SPRINGDALE — Achel Enos Hardcastle Jr., 91, a resident of Springdale, went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2012, at The Maples.

He was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Gentry, Ark., to Achel and Mollie Hardcastle. Achel served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in agriculture and business. He was a county agent in Missouri and Illinois and an advocate of the Future Farmers of America.

He was a dedicated member of Cross Church in Springdale, Ark., and a lifetime member of the Arkansas Jaycees. He was a devoted fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and be loved sports!

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Franklin Hardcastle; and son, Alan Franklin Hardcastle.

Achel is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nadean Ownbey Hardcastle. From this union came three daughters: Cheryl Rosborough and husband, Fred, of Gentry, Ark., Janice Zulpo and husband, Joe, Debbie Zulpo and husband, Adolph, both of Springdale, Ark.; 13 grandchildren, Jama Vancleave, Angie Hardcastle, Jackie Harmon, Alan Hardcastle Jr., Rachel Hickman, Julie Bell, Nathan Zulpo, Meagan Dalke, Ashley Zulpo, Elisabeth Rosborough, Jessica Hardcastle. Jennifer Hardcastle, Rebekah Hardcastle; and 20 great-grand-children. His four sisters, Eileen Calhoun of Tyler, Texas, Laurine Barnett of Siloam Springs, Ark., Mary Chivers of Little Rock, Ark., Laveta Francis and Evelyn Davis of Bartlett, Tenn.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 15, from 5-7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Cross Church Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Cliff Palmer and Charlie Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.

SPRINGDALE — Retha "Nadean" Ownbey Hardcastle, 89, a 60-year resident of Springdale, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Jan. 11, 2014, at The Maples with the Circle of Life Hospice care. She was born Feb. 11, 1924, in the home, four miles west of Decatur, Ark., to Eizy Lawrence and Lida Lanissa Wilmoth Ownbey.

She was a dedicated member of Cross Church in Springdale, Ark.

She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She was a graduate of Decatur High School in 1941 and attended the University of Arkansas. She taught at Decatur Public School for two-and-a-half years. In 1945, she met the love of her life. Achel Hardcastle Jr., and they were married on Oct. 6, 1945. They had a blissful union of marriage for 66 years.

She attended cosmetology school in 1961 and was a beautician for over 50 years. On Sept. 1, 1985, she became a sales associate at Dillard's Department Store where she retired after 20 years. She was an excellent seamstress, and in her spare time she loved to create arts and crafts for her family. She was also a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Achel Jr.; and one son, Alan Franklin Hardcastle; her two brothers, Lloyd Ownbey, Orla Ownbey; and five sisters, Thelma Wilmoth, Lucille Ownbey, Nedra Primrose, Loretta Higgins, Wanda Cameron.

Nadean is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Jean Rosborough and husband, Fred, of Gentry, Ark., Janice Lynn Zulpo and husband, Joe, Debra Kay "Debbie" Zulpo and husband, Adolph, both of Springdale, Ark.; 13 grandchildren, Jana Vancleave, Angie Hardcastle, Jackie Harmon, Alan Hardcastle Jr., Rachel Hickman, Julie Bell, Nathan Zulpo, Meagan Dalke, Ashley Zulpo, Elisabeth Rosborough, Jessica Hardcastle, Jennifer Hardcastle, Rebekah Hardcastle; 20 great-grandchildren; her one brother, Marvin Ownbey of Gentry, Ark.; and two sisters, Faye Higgins of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Marilyn Cameron of Dana Point, Calif.

Family will receive fiends on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Cross Church Chapel in Springdale, with Charlie Foster and Keith Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
