Obituary
Bobby Winkle, 81, of Batesville died Monday, June 27, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock.
Born November 10, 1934, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Delbert Ray Winkle and Nora Helen Weatherford Winkle.
In his early career, Bobby built stock cars and worked the pit crew for Mark Martin Racing. Bobby drove for Julian Martin Trucking and then retired with Dowell Trucking. He enjoyed watching television, especially car racing and spending time with his kids and grandkids, who played music and sang for him.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean (Jett) Winkle of Batesville; daughters, Barbara Brokaw of Judsonia and Deborah Louise Winkle of Batesville; three grandchildren, Janice Hodges (Eddie) of Velvet Ridge, Anna Passmore (George) of Judsonia, April Phillips (Daren) of Judsonia; great-grandchildren, Tyler Hodges (Holly) of Batesville, Gracie Hodges, Sarah Passmore, Jacob Phillips and Seth Phillips; great-great-grandchild, Lendzey Hodges; four brothers, Junior Winkle of Senath, Missouri, Gene Winkle of Kennett, Missouri, Jimmy Winkle of Popular Bluff, Missouri, James Winkle (Diana) of Ash Flat; five sisters, Lois Ward of Spring Hill, Louisiana, Joyce Maxwell (Roger) of Springhill, Louisiana, Betty Howard (Louie) of Pottsville; Shirley Slatton (Maxell) of Little Rock, Kathreen Jamerson (George) of Arbyrd, Missouri, and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger Winkle, Raymond Winkle and Jervie Winkle; and sisters, Peggy Jenkins and Patty Brown.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2016, at Roller-Crouch Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Boyce Johnson and Daren Phillips officiating. Music will be provided by April Phillips.
Interment will be in Reeves Cemetery at Pine Grove under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Johnson, Tyler Hodges, George Passmore, Jacob Phillips, Dallas Johnson and Eddie Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Masner, Steve Patterson, Ernest Johnson, Don Garrison, Seth Phillips, James Winkle and David Winkle.
Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the funeral home.
