Agnes Jones Elder was the daughter of Leroy and Mary Jones of Marianna, who like their daughter were natives of Alabama. Agnes had been married three times, first to Walter N. Pharr, then to Dr. David S. Drake, and last to Benjamin T. Elder, all three of whom predeceased her. She died in Clarksdale, Mississippi on June 21, 1931. In her will she had directed that she be buried in Cedar Heights Cemetery in Marianna. Names mentioned in the will included her son William R. Pharr, his wife Nanilee, and their two children Leonard L. Pharr and William R. Pharr, Jr. Also mentioned were Blanche R. Pharr, widow of her deceased son Walter N. Pharr II, and their sons Walter N. Pharr III and Robert W. Pharr. Executors of the will were William R. Pharr of Clarksdale and C.E. Daggett of Marianna.
