James Carlton Hesterly, 76, of Camden passed from this life on Friday, September 13, 2013. He was born to Carl H. "Buck" and Margie Creech Hesterly on July 9, 1937 in Camden and was reared in Reader. He attended public school in Chidester and then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. Following his service James attended Henderson University and later graduated from Southern State College in Magnolia with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. While attending college he married Mamie Jane Tuberville of Chidester in 1961. Following his graduation in 1963 James worked briefly for Lion Oil Company in El Dorado, and then went to work for International Paper Company in Camden. He worked for IPCO for 36 years and retired in 1999 as Manager of Purchasing and Stores. He was known by his peers as a master negotiator. James had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren, and for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Tommy and Donald Hesterly, and a sister Sandra Barbaree. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mamie Hesterly and his son Mike Hesterly of Camden, his grandson, Jamie Hesterly, two granddaughters Hope Hesterly and Caroline Jordan, his sister, Audrey Webb and husband Ray of Norphlet and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel, Dr. Braden, Home Health and Hospice, Peggy Abbott and the entire staff of the Ouachita County Medical Center for their compassion and care during his illness.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden with burial in Red Hill Cemetery at Chidester. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Proctors.
