Mildred “Spurlock” Reid died peacefully at Pine Hills Health and Rehabilitation center in Camden, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Stone Spurlock and Minnie Graham Spurlock of Sayre, Arkansas; and her brother, Millard Spurlock of Camden.
She is survived by her son, Samuel Fred Goodwin and wife, Meheret of Bay City, Texas; her nephew, Bruce Spurlock and wife, Kathy of Des Moines, Iowa; and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Mildred had a great life of 94 years, born in Sayre, AR in 1920 graduating from Chidester HS in 1937, then she went to Beauty school in Little Rock. During the war she worked in a munitions plant to help the cause. She settled back into Camden after the war and opened the Rialto Beauty Salon, one of the 1st Salon’s to have air conditioning she cut hair for over sixty years and raised her son and later her nephew in Camden. Mom and Aunt Sis will be missed so much by her boys. She is with the lord and family at peace.
Visitation will be at Proctor Funeral Home, Thursday 6-8 PM. Graveside services will be held at Red Hill in Chidester at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 24, 2014. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
