Valta Faye Burnett went to her Heavenly Home on March 26 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of the late Oscar L. and Bina Ford Moore of Wooster. Valta graduated from Central College in 1939 when it was an all girl's school. She married Grover Burnett in 1940 and moved to Whittier, Calif., where she continued her education, and stayed for 52 years. In 1956 she graduated from Whittier College with a BA degree in psychology-sociology. In 1964 she received her Masters in supervision from California State University Los Angeles. Valta held a lifetime elementary teaching credential, a supervision credential and an administrative credential. She taught for seven years in the Baptist Day Schools of greater Los Angeles and 22 years in the Little Lake City School District where she retired as a reading specialist. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her dear husband who died in 1984 and her two brothers, Joe Deal Moore and Leland Edsel Moore. Survivors are two daughters, Judy Lehman and husband Abe Lehman of Conway and Sheri Burnett of Benton. She leaves three grandsons, Brian and Brent Studler of Los Angeles and Bruce Studler of Conway; one granddaughter Carrie Leuba and husband Paul Leuba of New Freedom, Pa., and four great-grandchildren, Sean and Sydney Studler and Trevor and Trent Leuba. Valta will be remembered for her faithful visits most every day to the nursing homes. On Wednesday morning, she could be found playing the piano for a hymn sing-along at Salem Nursing Center and on Thursday afternoons at St. Andrews Nursing Home. In 2010, Valta was named Volunteer of the Year for the Arkansas Health Care Foundation for her tireless service. Valta was a Red Cross volunteer. She loved going with Sheri on Sunday nights to the Human Development Center and interacting with the developmentally disabled adults there. She loved studying her Bible and started every Jan. 1 to read through her Bible again. How she enjoyed the Precept Bible Studies that she began in January 1993 soon after she moved back to Conway. Valta believed in the power of prayer and was a faithful prayer warrior. Visitation will be at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Tuesday, March 29 6-8 p.m. Services for Valta will be held at Central Baptist Church Wednesday, March 30 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to Central Baptist Church Food Pantry.
