Frank Alfred Loyd Smith Jr., 84, of Pea Ridge, died Sept. 10, at NW Medical Center in Bentonville.

He was born November 8, 1931, at Lantry, South Dakota to Frank Alfred Smith Sr. and Mabel Mary Schultz Smith. He had lived in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota and Arkansas before moving to northwest Arkansas in 1966 to make his home. He had lived in Pea Ridge since 1993. In 1993 he retired from Peterson Industries after 27 years as a feed truck driver. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Velma Smith; an infant son Alfred Smith; six brothers, Fred, Harold, Lloyd, Arthur, Jerry, and Lester Smith; three sisters, Doris Haack, Hazel Smith, and Mabel Baker.

Survivors are two sons, Frank Smith Jr. (Janet) of Hugoton, Kansas and Loyd Smith (Tammy) of Decatur; three daughters, Lora Meeker (Larry) and Debra Grimes (Tony) all of Avoca, Aleda Wiltgen (Jerry) of Gateway; one brother Wilbur Smith of Wellington, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service is set for 2:00p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Buttrams Chapel Cemetery. No visitation.

PEA RIDGE — Velma Ruth Smith, 79, of Pea Ridge passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Bradford House Nursing Center in Rogers. She was born Sept. 20, 1933, at home south of Holly (Prowers County), Colo., to Charles and Beatrice (Hoover) Ratledge.

She lived in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and South Dakota, moving to Arkansas in 1996 to make her home. She retired in 1997 from First Brands in Rogers after 13 and one-half years. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Pea Ridge.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters and an infant son.

Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Frank Smith of the home; two sons, Frank Smith Jr. and wife, Janet, of Hugoton, Kan., Loyd Smith and wife, Tammy, of Decatur; three daughters, Lora Meeker and husband, Larry, of Avoca, Deborah Grimes and husband, Tony, of Avoca, Aleda Wiltgen and husband, Jerry, of Gateway; three sisters, Wilma Lindsey of Joshua Tree, Calif., Thelma Blair of Lanagan, Mo., Donna Slaughter of Westfield, Ind.; three brothers, Charles Ratledge of Hugoton, Kan., Jimmy Ratledge of Tulsa, Okla., and Berney Ratledge of Decatur; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

Service is set for Saturday, Nov. 24, 11 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge, with burial at Buttram Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is set for Friday, Nov. 23, 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
