Estelle “Stella” Ruth Rowlen Miller Myers

On the evening of Feb. 16, 2016, Stella passed away peacefully of natural causes at the Ramsey Village Nursing Home in Des Moines, Iowa. Stella was 97 years old.

Stella was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Arkansas City, Ark. She was the first child of the late Talley Morgan Rowlen and the late Annie Estelle McDaniel Rowlen.

She married Wilbur Miller when she was 18 years old and they were married for 35 years until his death in 1972. Together they raised six children.

In 1977 Stella married Paul Myers. They were married 16 years until his death in 1993. Stella lived most of her life in Vicksburg.

Stella was a homemaker that enjoyed taking care of her family and their home. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg, where for many years she assisted in the children’s Sunday school ministry.

Her hobbies were reading and needlework. She made many beautiful needlework pictures until her eyesight began to fail in her 80s. She enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family.

In the summer of 2014 she moved to an assisted living facility in Des Moines Iowa. While there, she made many new friends and enjoyed new experiences. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Stella is survived by a stepson, Marvin Miller and wife Caroline; a daughter, Sandra Adams and husband Bill; a son, Richard Miller and wife Linda; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Griffin-Culpper Funeral Home in McGehee Ark., followed by burial at the McGehee cemetery at 11.
