Robert "Monty" Montgomery, 72, of McGehee, died March 7, 1998, at Jefferson
Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 30, 1925, at McGehee, the son of the late Jess Montgomery
and
Blanche Montgomery.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, during which he received a
Purple Heart, and was retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad where he had
been a clerk. Following his career with the railroad, he served as the
Postmaster General at Arkansas City Post Office.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the McGehee
Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Montgomery; two sons, Stephen
Montgomery of McGehee and Greg Montgomery of Crofton, Maryland; a
daughter, Mary Robertson of McGehee; a brother, Ronald Montgomery of
Austin; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First United
Methodist Church at McGehee with the Rev. Joe Wilkerson and Father John
Eaton officiating. Burial will be in McGehee Cemetery by Griffin Funeral
Services of McGehee.

Elizabeth ( Betty) L. Montgomery, 82. of McGehee died Wednesday at McGehee Desha County Hospital in McGehee.
She was born January 22, 1927 in McGehee, AR to the late Robert J. Cranston and Elizabeth C. Linneman.
She was a Registered Nurse for Arkansas Department of Health, a member of St .Mary's Catholic Church and a member of St Mary's Altar Society.
She is survived by two sons: Greg Montgomery and wife Laurie of Crofton, MD and Stephen Montgomery and wife Cynthia of McGehee, AR, one daughter
Mary Robertson of Kelso, AR , ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday at 5 pm until Rosary at 6 pm.
Rosary will be Friday at 6 pm at Griffin Funeral Service.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Saturday, December 19, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Chuma Ibebuike officiating.
Burial will be in McGehee Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Service
of McGehee.
