March 18, 1900 - December 20, 1968
Harvey Lee Mays, 68, of Prescott, died Friday morning in a Prescott hospital. Mr. Mays was a former resident of Bearden. He was a retired railroad engineer. he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prescott and of the Masonic Lodge No. 11 of Camden. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Edna Henderson Mays; two daughters, Mrs. Janice Hicks of Pine Bluff, and Mrs. Howard Russell of Hazlet, N.J.; three sons, Jack Hesse of Electra, Tex., Dean Hesse of San Antonio, Tex., and Keith Wood of Longview, Tex.; six brothers, Elmer Mays and Euel Mays, both of Bearden, Earl Mays and Cobie Mays, both of Camden, Otis Mays of Memphis, Tenn., and Rual Mays of Minden, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Ezra Biggers of El Dorado and Mrs. Edna Pennington of Bearden; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bearden Assembly of God Church with the Rev. D. D. Smothers officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery near Bearden under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home of Camden. Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge. (El Dorado Times - December 21, 1968)
