February 11, 1891 - February 26, 1966
Ollie Bert Murphy, 75, of 715 W. Faulkner St., died early Saturday morning at a local hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 11, 1891, in Union Parish, La., the son of John M. and Mollie McGough Murphy. He was a retired railroad clerk for Missouri-Pacific, and had resided in the area for 60 years. He was known nationwide for his pure-bred beagles. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Dorado. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marie Hammonds Murphy; two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Risinger, Sr. of El Dorado, and Miss Laurnee Murphy of Ft. Worth, Tex.; one grandson, William H. Risinger, Jr; one brother, Dr. G. D. Murphy, Sr. of El Dorado; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Waddell of Osprey, Fla., and Mrs. Arnold Shaw of Altus, Okla.; several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church. Dr. Don Harbuck officiated, assisted by the Rev. J. Rayford McClean. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Young's. Active pallbearers were Elwood Gainer, Clinton Fritts, Frank Morgan, Bill Oglesby, E. B. Cobb and E. B. Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be W. R. Risinger, Porter Gammill, Warren Murphy, Joe Brown, Alvin Pickering, members of the Missouri-Pacific frieght office, and the Gen. Compere Bible Class of the First Baptist Church.
