When Jack Wade Hampton was born on September 28, 1911, in Monticello, Arkansas, his father, John, was 24 and his mother, Leona, was 22. He married Merle Alice "Totsy" Wells on November 25, 1937, in Ashley, Arkansas. He then married Gertrud Johanna Bergold in 1947. He died on March 26, 1965, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, at the age of 53.

McGehee -Jack W. Hampton, 54, of Midwest City, Okla., formerly of McGehee, died Friday. He was a retired Army major, a veteran of World War II and was a graduate of Arkansas AA&M. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Wesley Methodist Church of McGehee.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gertrud Bergold Hampton; a son, Michael Hampton of Oklahoma; a daughter; Miss Kay Hampton of Oklahoma; his mother, Mrs Jowh W Hampton of McGehee; a brother, Henry Hampton of Louisiana, and two sisters, Mrs. C. >. McDonald of Texas and Mrs. J. V. Sawyer of McGehee.

Funeral will be a 2 p.m. Sunday in the Dyer Funeral Chapel. Burial with Masonic graveside services will be in the McGehee Cemetery.
