Joe Carrol Nesbit, 85, of El Dorado, went to be with his Lord Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014. He was born March 6, 1929 in Village to John William and Jewel (Terrel) Nesbit.
Joe retired as an area supervisor for Lion Oil Company. He served his country fighting on the front lines during the Korean War. Joe not only served his country, he served his Lord. Joe was a member of First Assembly of God where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years. Joe lived his life as a Christian man of faith and served as an example to his family, his church and his community. He was a proud father and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Joe also loved fishing and hunting and was a huge fan of the Razorbacks. He will continue to be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Doyle Nesbit and Truman Nesbit; and one sister, Chlorie (Nesbit) Gunnels.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Nesbit of El Dorado; a daughter, Carol Ann Waller and husband Steve of Texarkana; a son, Danny Joe Nesbit of Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Casey Hanson and husband Jason of Magnolia; a grandson, Jon Bailey and wife Kimberly of Magnolia; great grandchildren, Tatum Hanson, Jayci Hanson, Dylan Bailey and Presley Bailey, all of Magnolia; three sisters, Daphene Braswell of Hot Springs, Norma Vinson of Marysville, and Nina Rushing of Texas City, Texas; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were to be at 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Ronnie Morris and Bro. Al Womack officiating. Burial will follow at Marysville Cemetery, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. prior to service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Vinson, Tommy Vinson, James Garrett, Victor Forte, Scooter Foster, Aaron Morris, Todd Rushing, and Bill Hanson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Foster, Jason Hanson, Jim Fernald, and Steve Waller.
Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church of El Dorado or Life Touch Hospice.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the caring staff at Life Touch Hospice.
