Zela Dockins Sanders of Calico Rock, Arkansas
Zela Dockins Sanders, daughter of the late Ted Dockins and Minnie Bell Smith Dockins, was born May 4, 1922 in Wideman, Arkansas. She departed this life December 26, 2017 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 24 days.
She was united in marriage to Ted Sanders December 23, 1946 in Calico Rock and together they raised seven children. Zela spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years, she was employed by Calico Rock Medical Center, working as an x-ray tech, physical therapy and as a nursing assistant. She retired after many years of employment. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Dolph Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Bobby and Terri Sanders of Cave City; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Melba Cooper of Pineville, Peggy and Ralph Price of Calico Rock, Patricia and Chester Pool, Sr of Dolph and Fern and David Sherrell of Oxford; 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 4 brothers, 2 sisters; two children: Betty Walker and Freddy Sanders and one granddaughter: Jessica Sanders.
Visitation will be Friday, December 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. at Dolph Baptist Church with Bobby Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Dolph Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Danny Woods, Russell Price, Chester Pool, Jr., Shawn Walker, Jeremiah Sanders and Lewis Pool.
Honorary Pallbearers: Tim Woods, Josh Walker, Chad Pool and Scotty Sanders.
Note: It would appear that her father was Charles Edward Dockins instead of Ted Dockins as stated in the obituary. Ted Dockins was her brother.]
