Helen Margarite Zaccanti, age 78, of Fayetteville, died in her home Friday, April 2, 2004. She was born May 31, 1925, in Custer, Ky., to Preston and Hester Milburn. Helen married Lt. Alfred E. Zaccanti in New York in 1945. They met at Ft. Knox, Ky., where Lt. Zaccanti was stationed.
Helen and Al moved to Fayetteville in 1952 when Capt. Zaccanti was discharged from the United States Armed Services where he served in the Korean War. They made Fayetteville their home, bought a cattle and chicken ranch and raised their four children.
Helen was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and ail who were privileged to know her.
Helen is survived by her husband, Col. Alfred E. Zaccanti of the home; her children, Mary Helen Bassett-Broyles, Alfred Zaccanti Jr, and Edward Zaccanti, all of Fayetteville and Jacqueline Calcagni of Springdale; her grandchildren, John Bassett, Jennifer Bassett-Stumbaugh, Kari Zaccanti, Justin Zaccanti, Patrick Calcagni, Joseph Calcagni and Taylor Davis; her sisters, Irene Davis, Mildred Oliver, Flossie Trent and Ethel Prather, all of Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2004, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The Rev. Monsignor James E. Mancini will be officiating the services. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today, April 4 at the funeral home. The family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m.
