Obituary:
James Thomas Cone, son of the late William E. "Bill" Cone and Laverne Knowles Cone, was born August 31, 1947 in Batesville, Arkansas. He departed this life August 13, 2017 at his home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was a 1965 graduate of Melbourne High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State University. Tom was united in marriage to Paula Davidson on August 28, 1967. He was a coach and teacher at Violet Hill School. Tom sold real estate in and around Cherokee Village before opening Cone Realty in 1978. Tom enjoyed being an interim preacher and volunteering with mission groups such as Miracle Village International. He was of the Christian faith and was a member of Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne.
Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years: Paula Cone of the home; two children: Lisa Gardner and husband Shane of Sage, Arkansas and David Cone of Melbourne; one brother: Mike Cone of Melbourne; one sister: Lou Ann James and husband John of Flippin; three grandchildren: Zack Cone, Dawson Cone and Emma Cone all of Melbourne; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson: Colton Cone.
