Preston Gray Hicky, 61, of Forrest City, Arkansas, passed away at his home on April 21, 2011. Preston was born on June 19, 1949, and lived in Marianna where he graduated from T.A. Futrall High School in 1967. He graduated in 1971 from The University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee, with a degree in Political Science. While at Sewanee he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and set records as a sprinter on the track team. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville in 1974. He began his legal career as an attorney in Forrest City and continued there for thirty-six years until his retirement in 2010. Preston was a longtime member, Elder and Sunday School teacher at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. Preston's greatest loves were his family, playing golf, hunting, entertaining, and watching all types of sports, particularly the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a past president of the Forrest City Country Club.
Preston was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Preston Hicky, of Forrest City. He is survived by his mother, Mary Bliss Hicky of Conway; three children: Chris Hicky (and wife Haley) of Los Angeles, California; Jennifer Hicky Collins (and husband Hank) of Forrest City; and Laura Yancey Hicky of Conway; five grandchildren: Hayes and Wyatt Hicky of Los Angeles, California, and Molly, Avery and Peyton Collins of Forrest City; his brother, Bliss Hicky (and wife Jan) of Conway; a niece, Mary Elizabeth Hicky Maynard (and husband Fletcher) of Durham, North Carolina; and a nephew, William Hicky of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his devoted friend of many years, Kay Humphreys, of Marion, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in Forrest City on Sunday, April 24, 2011, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will also be held at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., with burial following at Marianna Memorial Park, all under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home of Forrest City. The family requests that memorials be made to Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, 402 Dillard Street, Forrest City, or The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Mary Bliss Yancey Hicky died March 14, 2016, at the age of 92. Mrs. Hicky was born December 5, 1923 in Luxora, Arkansas, to William Bliss Yancey and Elta Spann Yancey.

She started school in Brickeys and Hughes. From the fifth through the tenth grades, she attended St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Memphis as a boarding student, then graduated from Marianna High School. She furthered her education at Fairmont Junior College in Washington, DC, and at The Casements in Ormond Beach, FL. She was in Washington when Pearl Harbor was bombed and was in the Senate Gallery when President Roosevelt declared war on Japan.

In 1945 she wed Jerry Preston Hicky of Forrest City, and they were married for 58 years until Mr. Hicky’s death in 2003. They lived in Marianna until 1999 and then moved to Forrest City. She loved to entertain in her home, and her favorite pastimes included canning vegetables and making pickles grown in their gardens and peach orchards. She was devoted to her family.

Mrs. Hicky was an Episcopalian and enjoyed church activities, serving on the Altar Guild for many years. She was a charter member of The Junior Auxiliary in Marianna. In later years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling. After his death, she enjoyed retirement in both Hot Springs and Conway, and she spent her last years in Memphis. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her son Preston Gray Hicky.

Funeral services at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Burial at Marianna Memorial Park.
