Dr. William Hughes Flanagan of Memphis, TN died late Thursday night at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was 65. He was born March 28, 1944 to Opal and William Flanagan of West Memphis, AR. Dr. Flanagan received his medical degree at the University of Arkansas Medical School, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He returned to Memphis where he practiced cardiology for 31 years at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was a founding partner of Memphis Heart Clinic. Dr. Flanagan leaves his wife, Katherine Ramona Flanagan; his daughter, Dr. Katherine Hughes Flanagan; his son, William Daniel Flanagan; his two grandchildren, William Edgar Overton and Katherine Frances Overton and son-in-law Dr. Edgar Turner Overton. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday August 28 at First United Methodist Church in West Memphis, AR. The family requests that donations be made to the Memphis chapter of the American Heart Association.
