James E. White of Fairfield Bay, Ark. passed away Dec. 18, 2015 in Clinton, Ark. at the age of 98. Jim was born in Aurora, Mo., the oldest of four brothers (James, Arthur, Benjamin, Victor) to Benjamin Carroll White and Florence May Hendrix. His father was a railroad station agent while the boys were growing up and moved around Missouri, Arkansas and Nebraska as assignments changed and that forged a very tight "Band of Brothers". Jim attended Monticello and transferred and graduated from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a BS in Chemical Engineering '41 and was inducted into the UA ChE Hall of Fame in 1972.

Jim married his "girl next door", Helen A. Hill in 1941 and began his career and family in Baton Rouge, La. where Anita and Ginger were born. From there his career took him to New York and London, England. His work as a long term planner and troubleshooter for Lubes, Oils, Waxes and Greases with Esso Europe/Exxon in London for 11 years allowed Jim and Helen to travel worldwide. After retiring in 1977 and moving to Fairfield Bay in 1987, Jim became a woodcarver, working on small scale carvings and larger scale totem poles with the local carving club. He was also a community advocate, working with various organizations, Log Cabin Museum, Indian Rock Village, Wear & Share, Ozark Health Board of Directors, the Hart Center and cofounder of the Alzheimer's Support Group in the Bay.

Surviving are: daughters: Anita Wellings (Vincent); Virginia/Ginger Lane, (Jim); brothers: Ben White (Dorothy) of Memphis; Victor White (Elizabeth) of Cotton Plant; grandchildren: Christine Miller (Don); Jeffrey Quinn (Susan); Heather Olson (Michael); Carrie Lane (Matt); Tawny Lane (Arlie); great-grandchildren: Megan, Rianna, Emily, Frank, Ellis; nephews: Jim, Dick, Jeff, Bob; nieces: Helen, Susan, Robin; cousin: Helen Stockton. Predeceased by: wife Helen, brother Arthur and sisters-in-law Berniece and Patricia.

We want to thank Nancy Edwards for her loving care of both Mom & Dad in their final years and Marti Herren, Dad's special lady.

Service will be at Kirk of the Hills, Fairfield Bay, Ark., January 9 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider memorials to: Alzheimers Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Dr., Little Rock, Ark. 72205. Or the charity of your choice. www.olmstead.cc.
