Carl J. Mangerson, age 91, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at the Ozark Health Nursing Center in Clinton. Born in Spring Valley near Rose Hill, Iowa, on March 19, 1919, he was the son of the late Oscar and Mamie (Roberts) Mangerson.
A former resident of Davenport, Iowa, Mr. Mangerson was a retired employee of Oscar Mayer and had lived at Fairfield Bay for the past forty years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Marine Corps.
His wife, Lydia Mangerson, preceded him in death in 1998. Mr. Mangerson was also preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Gene Kirwin; and two stepsons, Ken Likeness and Fred Likeness.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Kirwin of Olathe, Kansas, and Cathy Mangerson of Orange, California; one stepson, Richard Likeness of California; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Stotts of Alaska and Mary Mangerson of California; two nieces and one nephew. Mr. Mangerson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, at 12:00 noon at the Woodland Chapel at Edgemont with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Tom Edwards. Interment will follow in Woodland Memorial Park.
