Mr. William "Bill" Casteel, 85, of Bartlesville, died at 5:50 p.m., Monday, at the Medicaloge of Dewey, Oklahoma.

Graveside services for Mr. Casteel will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2009 at LaGrange Cemetery in LaGrange, Arkansas. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 2-6 p.m., at Roller-Citizens.

Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.

Mr. Casteel was born at Calico, Arkansas on September 8, 1923 the son of Robert Luther and Della (White) Casteel. "Boots" as he was known in Arkansas, grew up in the LaGrange, Arkansas area and attended schools at Barton, Arkansas. He then worked as a truck driver in a CCC Camp in Kramer, North Dakota until entering the U.S. Navy on January 7, 1943. He served in the South Pacific in the Battle of Tarawa in the Gilbert Islands and at Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. Following his Honorable Discharge on January 3, 1947, he returned to Arkansas and was married to Henri Irene Allen on June 22, 1947 at LaGrange. Mr. Casteel then attended Oklahoma State Technical School at Okmulgee on the GI Education Bill where he received an Associates Degree in Design and Drafting in August of 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Casteel moved to Bartlesville to establish their home and Mr. Casteel was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company for over 35 years until his retirement on August 1, 1985 as a Master Supervising Designer. Mr. Casteel had been an active member of the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105 and during the late 1950's and early 1960's he managed the club room for five years. He was also active as a parent volunteer for the Phillips 66 Splash Club from 1956 thru 1963. In 1963 he became a member of the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge # 284 AF and AM and in 1965 became active as a Shriner's clown until 1995. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing on Grand Lake.

Mr. Casteel is survived by one son, Donnie Allen Casteel and his wife, Nancy of Bartlesville; one daughter, Connie Brandon of Bartlesville; one granddaughter, Sonya Hauser of Bartlesville; and one niece, Ann Brown of East Point, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henri Irene Casteel on February 13, 1990, his parents, two brothers and his two beloved cats, both named "Jabo".
