George Oliver Vanderpool, 85, son of the late John R. and Roxie Hall Vanderpool, was born at Vienna, MO, on May 24, 1873 and died at a Batesville Hospital Jan 3, 1959. He was united in marriage to Martha E. (Elzie) Anderson at Melbourne, Ark, July 19,1914 and to this union eight children were born. His companion preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1958. Survivors include two sons, Sgt. First Class Rolla Vanderpool of Ft. Benning, GA, and Richard Vanderpool of Wilson, N.C.; six daughters, Mrs. Jewell Owens of Union, Ark, Mrs. Meriman Smith of Twin Creek, Ark, Mrs. Josie Cambell of Mtn Home, Ark, Mrs. Ester Lee Ingle of Choteau, Ok, Mrs. Elsie Romine of Salem, Ark, and Mrs. Delsie Romine of St. Louis, MO; one sister Mrs. Gertrude Shockley of Vienna, MO, 26 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends. Mr. Vanderpool had been a member of the Church of Christ for some ten years. Services were held Tuesday y, Jan 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Church of Christ with Elder LeRoy Miller of No. Little Rock, Ark, and Elder Marvin E. Berry of Mammoth Spring, Ark officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery under the direction of the Carter Funeral Service of Salem. Pall bearers were Sam Campbell, Jack Cochran, Lloyd McHenry, Lowell Osborn, Low Tucker and W.H. Gilbert.
