Mrs. Maerene Brown, age 78, of St. Louis and formerly of Marianna, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Brown was born June 10, 1928, in Aubrey, the daughter of Wade Hamp "Buck" Jones and Jossie Mae Jones. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 22. She was also member of the Mt. Sinai M.B. Church in Aubrey and joined the Bethlehem M.B. Church where she was a member of the choir, the Mother's Board and the women's mission. She joined the Fruit of the Spirit M.B. Church after moving to St. Louis. Mrs. Brown is survived by five daughters, Nellie Parker of Chicago, Ill., Marian Broadway of Marianna, Janice Brown and Teresa Brown both of Little Rock and Juanita Jones of St. Louis, Mo.; five sons, Alfred Brown of Chicago, Ill., Joenathan Brown of Marianna, Ryan Brown of West Memphis, Michael Brown and Decima Reshay Brown, both of St. Louis, Mo. and Wilbur Brown of Huntsville, Texas. She was also survived by two sisters, Lonzierene Lewis and Jossie Jones, both of Hempstead, N.Y.; a brother, George Henry Jones of Kalamazoo, Mich; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Brown and a son, James L. Brown Jr. Funeral services for Mrs. Brown were held on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at the St. John M.B. Church in Felton. Burial followed in Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Aubrey. Marianna Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.Published: 2007-01-22
