SILOAM SPRINGS — Stanford Jones, 88, of Siloam Springs died Monday, March 31, 2008, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 18, 1920, in St. Paul, the son of Rufus and Ida Mary Watkins Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Murle Scranton, and his wife, Lorraine Porter Jones.

He was retired from Pacific Ready Mix. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 8th Armored Division. He was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church in Siloam Springs.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Jones; one daughter, Barbara Stygar and husband Chester of Modesto, Calif.; one brother, Stanley Gene Jones and wife Rita of Nob Hill; one grandson, Chester D. Stygar of California; one granddaughter, Cindy Shoreman and husband Rich of California; three great-grandchildren; and good friends who have helped us, Jerry and Deborah Hall and David and Judy Shoop.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today, April 2 at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Pentecostal Building Fund, 2450 Lincoln, Siloam Springs, 72761.

SILOAM SPRINGS — Gwendolyn Jones, age 88, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Wednesday Aug. 23, 2017, in Broken Arrow, Okla. She was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Hazel Valley, Ark. to Rev. Hugh and Ona Laura Miller Shackelford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanford Jones on March 31, 2008; her parents, one brother, Jack Shackelford and two sisters, Viola Schulte and Clara Arm Thornsberry.

She retired after a career in retail sales for Montgomery Ward. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Gwen is survived by her sister Ruth "Thelma" Bloyd of Springdale, Ark.

Viewing will be 4-6 p.m., Friday at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 26, 2017, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
