SPRINGDALE — Sherman Bowen, 92, of Springdale died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, in Springdale. He was born March 18, 1920, in Spring Valley to Jay Charles and Dealia Harp Bowen.

Sherman was a member of Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He owned and operated Bowen Trucking. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse and Paint Horse associations.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Sherman Bowen; and one daughter, Joy Eileen Grigg.

He is survived by his wife, Laveda Bowen of the home, to whom he was married Sept. 6, 1939; one son, Dennis Allen Bowen of Kansas, Okla.; two daughters, Shirley Craig of Las Vegas, Nev., and Linda Parsons of Gentry; two sisters, Lydia Joyner of Springdale and Lena Hamilton of Rogers; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale, with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating.

No visitation is planned.

BETHEL HEIGHTS — Laveda Hasleteen "Thompson" Bowen, 93, of Bethel Heights passed away April 22, 2016, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born March 2, 1923, in War Eagle, Ark., to Walter Edward and Margaret Shockley Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Noah Sherman Bowen; one daughter, Joy Eileen Grigg; one son, Joseph Sherman Bowen: one brother, Edward Thompson and her parents.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Bowen of Oklahoma; two daughters, Shirley Craig of Nevada and Linda Parsons of Gentry, Ark.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters; Dorothy Zachary of Texas and Marie Barnes of Springdale, Ark.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at 2 p.m at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Private burial services will be at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
