Mrs. Celestine George, affectionately called "Pee Wee," "Mother George," "Momma," "Granny" "Teddy Bear," and "Mrs. George" was born to her mother (late) Alberta Bailey and father (late) R. T. Sanders, on May 3, 1943 in Elaine, AR.
She was raised by her grandmother (late) Laura G. Bell Addison and grandfather (late) Jack Addison of Lexa, AR. She was raised with her two cousins (late) Rosie Lee Glanton, Crosscity FL and Larry (Pam) Harris, Columbus, GA. They were so close, they were viewed as brother and sisters.
Celestine was married to the late Rev. S. L. George for 46 years until his departure. To this blessed union were three beautiful daughters born: Patricia Ann George of Memphis, TN; Shirley Jean Tatum of Conway, AR; and Samantha Jackson of Memphis, TN.
Celestine was a faithful member of the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Marianna, AR until her illness. She has resided in Memphis, TN for the last six years with her daughter Samantha and son-in-law, Darren Jackson and also with her daughter, Patricia George until her departure.
Celestine worked at Helena Hospital in Helena, AR for 36 years. She also worked as a beautician for many years at Vallee' Beauty Shop. Everyone will remember Celestine as a hard worker; one who loved helping others; one that had a beautiful voice; one that wore beautiful hats; and especially one that loved her girls and grandsons.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: three daughters: Patricia, Shirley and Samantha; son-in-law, Darren Jackson, Memphis, TN; one brother: Robert Harris of Little Rock, AR; Father-in-law, Sam George of Little Rock, AR; three grandchildren: Markieth George, Conway, AR; Gavin George, Jonesboro, AR; and Samuel George, Conway, AR; six great grandchildren: Markiesha George, Marvell, AR; Markieth George, Jr.; Taylor George, Alexis George, and Samari George; all of Conway, AR and a host of Aunts, Uncles, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.
