ELKINS - Loyd Coleman Mounce, 70, of Elkins died March 20, 1999, at Rogers. He was born May 17, 1928, in Mountainburg to Dave H. and Louise Luper Mounce.

He was a builder and masonry contractor who worked in Arkansas, New Mexico and California. He specialized in native stone and brick work. He attended Revival Tabernacle in Springdale and enjoyed hunting and camping.

He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Grantham Cassidy Mounce of the home, to whom he was married in 1966; one son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd "Butch" Mounce and Cathy of Euless, Texas; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Frances Johnson and Woody of Bokoshe, Okla., Debbie Clevenger and Mike of Farmington, Pat Mudd and William of Rogers and Carol Farmer of Bella Vista; one foster daughter, Clara Greer of Fayetteville; one brother, Derrel Mounce of Mustang, Okla.; one sister, Wanda Lida of Enoree, S.C.;12 Grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Revival Tabernacle in Springdale with the Rev. Paul Eden and the Rev. Norman Hamby officiating.

Pallbearers will be Steve Greer, Jim Kent, Bill Mounce, Harlan Mounce, Loy Mounce, Merrel Mounce and Gerald Russell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Othel Henderson, Ed Miller, Bob Mullen and James Pearson.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Sisco Chapel of Springdale.

ELKINS — Sarah Inez Cassidy Mounce, 79, of Elkins, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, in Bella Vista. She was born July 19, 1937, in Dexter, N.M., to Robert Harold and Julia Annette Skinner Grantham.

Sarah was an adventurer and trailblazer. She was the first female deputy sheriff in Benton County, as well as the first female dispatcher for the New Mexico State Police. Sarah retired from Benton County after 20 years of dedicated service. Then she and Lloyd retired to their beloved mountain.

Sarah's ties to the county remained strong through the lifelong friendships built there. In 1998 she returned to work at the Benton County Administration Office where she never severed ties and regularly participated at events. Sarah had a zest for life. She loved traveling, gospel music, hummingbirds, canning and above all spending time with family and friends. She was known for her passion for capturing every moment with her trusty camera, famous for her apple butter and apple cakes. She was a touch mischievous and loved a good laugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Mounce; one son, Robert Cassidy; one daughter, Mary Cassidy, four brothers, six sisters and her parents.

Survivors include one son, Butch Mounce and wife Cathy of Gainesville, Texas; four daughters, Carol Farmer and Don of Bella Vista, Frances Johnson and husband Woody of Bokoshe, Okla., Pat Mudd and husband William of Rogers and Debbie Clevenger and husband Mike of Farmington, Arkansas; two brothers, Floyd Grantham and wife Margaret of Artesia, N.M.; Roy Grantham of Roswell, N.M.; twelve grandchildren, Jeremy Farmer and wife Lindsey of Bentonville, Terae and husband George Reader of Bella Vista, Cory Farmer of Bella Vista, Catherine Mudd of Rogers, Kenneth Mudd of Rogers, Stephanie Newman and husband Willie of Farmington, Michelle Boley and husband Lance of Austin, Texas, Keegan Mounce and wife Mary of The Woodlands, Texas, Tina King and husband Garry of Farmington, Chip Clevenger, Sammy Johnson and Chip Johnson; seventeen grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. And numerous nieces and nephews and many adopted friends family.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 7, 2017, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lowell with Rev. George Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
