Harold Wayne Corkran, 80, of Marianna, Arkansas passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at home; with his family there to comfort him. Wayne was born August 9, 1931 to the late Ronald Richard Corkran and Ruby Aileen Casteel Corkran in Marianna, Arkansas.
He lived a very full and productive life. He graduated High School in Marianna; then graduated from Northeast Louisiana College with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. He later worked as a Teacher, Coach, Principal and Superintendent in the School systems of Lee County, Marvell School, Barton School, Newellton, Louisiana; Fordyce, Arkansas; and Cross County, Arkansas for 30 years. He was a very distinguished member of the community, serving on various boards and community organizations, including the Lee County School District Board, Lee County Housing Authority, Methodist Men’s Group and The American Legion.
He is survived by his son, Michael Corkran (Cindy) of Shreveport. Louisiana; daughter, Lisa DeJarnatte (Ralph) of Huntsville, Alabama; 5 grandchildren Kelly Downey (Devin), Jeff Corkran (Jenny), Merdith Guess (Timothy), Michelle Holman (Adam), Curtis DeJarnatte (Meaghan); 6 great grandchildren, Brother-in-Law Howell Lane Cheatam, III (Linda) and 2 sister-in-laws, Iris Jean Williamson and Eugenia Corkran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years, Mamfie Cheatham Corkran and brother Ronald Edward Corkran.
Services are Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:00 A. M. at the United Methodist Church in Marianna. Reverend Ike Mohr has charge of services. Visitation is December 4, 2011 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Chapel from 5-7 P. M. Burial will be in Marianna Memorial Park in Marianna.

Marvel K. Corkran, 79, of Marianna, Ark., passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 in Marianna, Ark. Mrs. Corkran was born Dec. 13, 1930 to Howell Lane Cheatham II and Iris Norene Newcome in Oak Grove, La. Mrs. Corkran is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Wayne Corkran; son Mike Corkran (Cindy) of Shreveport, La; daughter, Lisa DeJarnatte (Ralph) of Huntsville. Ala.; five grandchildren, Jeff Corkran (Jenny), Kelly Downey (Devin) Meredith Guess (Timothy), Michelle Holman (Adam) and Curtis DeJarnatte his fiancé (Meaghan); five great-grandchildren; sister Iris Jean Wilkerson of Longview, Texas; brother, Howell Lane Cheatham III (Linda) of McKinney, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Corkran received her BA degree from Northeast State College in Monroe, La. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society while she taught school for 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Pallbearers are Alton Yancey, Mike Walker, Bill Gerard, Trent Felton, Martin Chaffin and Jack Beauchamp. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Methodist Men's Group. Services will be Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Marianna with Reverend Ike Mohr officiating. Burial Marianna Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday.
