Doris "Jackie" Jacqueline Brown
Doris Jacqueline Brown, age 87, of Viola, Arkansas was born on March 5, 1930 in Shady Grove, Arkansas, daughter of James Hiram and Ona Sarah Jane (Taylor) Dawson. She departed this life on Sunday, September 24, 2017 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Jackie was united in marriage to James F. Moore on July 27, 1948 and to this union three children were born. Jackie later married Carmon Max Brown on May 25, 1994. Jackie spent her working years as an aide with home health and the nursing home. Jackie was a caretaker and an encourager who saw the best in everyone. Jackie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was known as “Granny Jackie” to many who were not related to her. Jackie was strong in her Christian faith and attended services at the Viola United Methodist Church in Viola, Arkansas.
Jackie is survived by her son, Randy Moore of Viola, Arkansas; 2 daughters, Linda Welch (John Ed) of Salem, Arkansas and Debbie Downum (Chuck) of Viola, Arkansas; Honorary daughter, Vonda Accurso (Matt) of Raymore, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Jeff Welch (Kacy), Jamie Martin (Seth), Holly Ash (Jordan), Justin Welch (Jessica), Taylor Brown, Cody Brown, Sadie Brown, Eric Scherfenberg (Jenny), Jason Scherfenberg (Jodie), Christy Smith (Derek) and Jessica Farrell (Jason); twenty great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands (Jim and Carmon), sister (Bircha Cochran) and two brothers (Bob Dawson and Dale Dawson).
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Salem United Methodist Church in Salem, Arkansas with Pastor Velda Bell, Vonda Accurso and John Ed Welch officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 P.M. until time of service Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Salem United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Viola Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Jeff Welch, Jordan Ash, Justin Welch, Bailey Benedict, Seth Martin and Bobby Dawson. Honorary Pallbearers are John Ed Welch, Chuck Downum, Eric Scherfenberg, Matt Accurso and Jason Scherfenberg. Memorials may be made to the Viola United Methodist Church in Viola, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
