ROGERS — Harold William Nolan Jr. (Bill) was born on Feb. 10, 1934, in Santa Maria, Calif., the only child of Harold William Nolan Sr. and Lucille Muscio Nolan.

He grew up and graduated high school in Santa Maria, Bill joined the service, where he learned to fly fixed wing aircraft, and served his country honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him the Air Medal, a Bronze Star, and numerous other medal citations and commendations. He retired with honors from the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer with 21 years.

Upon retiring from the army, he lived in Santa Maria, Calif., Hawthorne, Nev., Riverside, Calif., and finally retiring and settling in Rogers, Ark., in 1993. For several years, Bill and Barbara, along with Barbara's sister and husband, operated the War Eagle Cavern. Bill loved giving the guided tours, especially to the local school children on field trips. Bill was also a member of the Piney Point Volunteer Fire Department, serving as the training officer. Bill never met a stranger and was known for helping anyone he came in contact with. He was very close to his family.

Bill, at the age of 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at St. Johns in Springfield, Mo., due to complications of a stroke suffered on July 2, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann Nolan on Jan. 1, 2011.

He is survived by three sons, Derick Nolan and wife Becky of Rogers, Paul Nolan and wife Cindy of Galena, Kan., Kenneth Nolan and wife Rhonda of Bentonville; six grandchildren, Angela, Tabbatha, Joshua, Jessica, Katelynn, Samantha; and two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Harley.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #100.

Memorials may be made in his honor to: American Heart Association at Memorial Processing Center, 5375 S.W. Seventh St., Topeka, KS 66606.

Cremation arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

ROGERS — Barbara Ann Nolan, 72, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. She was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Lawton, Okla., to Charley C. Hale and Zephery Jones Hale.

During her life she was a wife, mother, sister and a friend to all she touched. She was a woman that many people called "MOM." She seemed to always know the right thing to say to comfort and encourage us.

The world is a lesser place without her. May the angels rejoice and heaven be in all its glory for there is a new angel to watch over us!

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harold "Bill" Nolan; three sons, Derick Nolan and wife, Becky, of Rogers, Paul Nolan of Galena, Kan., Kenneth Nolan and wife, Rhonda, of Bentonville; four sisters, Edna South of College Station, Texas, Mildred Law and husband, Hank, of Rogers, Ark., Phyllis Holland of Saluda, N.C., Patricia Fletcher of Hendersonville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Angela, Tabatha, Joshua, Jessica, Katelynn, Samantha; and two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Harley.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Stockdale Funeral Chapel in Rogers.

Interment will be at a later date at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
