WEIR, Gaines - (from Johnson) Uncle Gaines Weir died last Wednesday evening and was buried at Elm Springs on Thursday evening. Uncle Gaines was one of the old fellows who pinned their faith and hope to the Clear Creek valley away back when the county was young and a large family grew up to sturdy manhood and womanhood and scattered to other regions to seek elusive fortune but Uncle Gaines stayed near the old homestead until his summons to journey beyond the realms of death. He was a native of Tennessee and was 72 years, 2 months and 2 days old when he died.
