Delton Cleon Huffman, age 92, of Little Rock, formerly of Malvern, died Monday, Jan 14, 2013, at Pleasant Valley Living Center.
He was born on April 9, 1920, in Delight, Ark to Bart and Olean Huffman.
He graduated from Donaldson High School in 1940.
In 1941 he joined the army and was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant in 1945.
He was proud to have served his country during World War II. In 1981 he retired from the postal services after 29 years of service.
He married Kathryn Saegesser on May 1, 1942, in Webster Groves, Missouri.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas, of Malvern, two brothers,
Dewey Huffman of Delight and Alton Huffman of Malvern, and one sister, Artie Mae
Cox of Donaldson.
He was a long time member of North Main Church of Christ in
Malvern, where he served as an elder for several years.
After moving to Little Rock in 2002, he attended the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Kathryn, one son, D.C. Huffman, Jr. and his
wife, Judy of Oakland, Tennessee; one daughter, Kathey Harden and her husband, Randy
of Maumelle; seven grandchildren, Kim Smith (Martin) of Jackson, Tennessee, Keith
Huffman (Kara) of Medina, Tennessee, Brian, Jeremy and Mindy Huffman of Jonesboro,
Bethany Chandler (Joseph) of Sherwood and Shelby Harden of Maumelle; 4 great
grandchildren, Tyler, Shane and Jaxon Huffman of Jonesboro and Angel Huffman of
Oakland, Tennessee and one sister, Reba Russell of Delight.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Church of
Christ with Nick Hamilton officiating.
Burial will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are by Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth in Little Rock.
