Harvey B. Shehane, 88, of El Dorado, died on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the CHI St Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.

Born on July 5, 1927, in Jonesboro, Ga., Harvey was the son of Dr. Yancey Tillman Shehane and Clara Viola Brazell Shehane. Harvey served as a pharmacist mate in the Navy during World War II. A 1952 graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Pharmacy, he began his career with Giles Pharmacy and then with Warner Brown Hospital and its successor, Medical Center of South Arkansas for 50 plus years, retiring as Director of Pharmacy. He was past president of Arkansas Society of Hospital Pharmacists and an Associate Instructor of Pharmacy at University of Arkansas for Health Science. Harvey was an active member of the El Dorado community serving on the City Council, a past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Civitan Club and a volunteer with the Interfaith Clinic. He was recognized by the City of El Dorado with Harvey Shehane Day on Aug. 1, 2006 and with the A.H. Robins Outstanding Community Service Award in 1965.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Claude and Marion Shehane and a sister, Louise Sharif.

Survivors are a daughter, Brenda Lynn (Skip) Bowline of Winston Salem, N.C.; sons, Bob(Susie) Shehane and Randy Shehane, all of Arkadelphia and Greg (Dee Dee) Shehane of Emerson; a brother, Edward (Charlene) Shehane of Little Rock, a sister Evelyn Lynch of Hot Springs, along with 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Young's Funeral Directors.

A memorial service will be held at The Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W Maryland Ave, North Little Rock, AR. with military honors provided by US Navy.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 201 South Hill, El Dorado, AR 71730.
