As a fulfillment of a promise if God would spare Little Rock from the yellow fever epidemics, he bequeathed his entire estate to the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock for the establishment of a Free Hospital. That institution, first known as the Charity Hospital and later as Little Rock Infirmary later became what's known today as St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center.
