Obituary:
Richard Lamuel Gwatney, 74 of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014.

He was born September 12, 1940 in North Little Rock, AR to the late Lee and Fannie Huffman Gawtney.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Knights of Columbus. Richard retired from the Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock after numerous years of employment. He loved bowling and roller skating during the 1950’s and 60’s. He loved spending time with Brenda, George, his grandkids, and great-grandchildren every Sunday for lunch. Being a Navy Veteran, he had a tender loving heart, but sometimes spoke like a sailor. He will be missed by his family and friends. May the Good Lord bless and keep Richard with Him in eternal happiness.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and two brothers, George and Garland Gwatney.

He is survived by his daughter Brenda Goodhart (George) of North Little Rock; four grandchildren, Jennifer Goodhart Smith (Warren), Bradley Goodhart, Matthew Goodhart (Emily), and Daniel Goodhart; six great-grandchildren, Gavin and Aiden Hammons, McKinley and Payton Goodhart, Warren Smith, and Caroline Smith; Brother Mike Gwatney and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 J.F.K Blvd, North Little Rock, AR 72116 (501)791-7400 with rosary to follow.

Dorothy Virginia Gwatney6/19/1928 - 6/3/2007North Little Rock , AR Dorothy Virginia Gwatney (Bruich), 78, of North Little Rock, Ark., left her loved ones to be with Our Lord on Sunday, June 03, 2007. Dorothy was vibrant and active until the time of her sudden illness. Dorothy was the loving wife of Richard Gwatney. She was a wonderful mother to her daughter, Brenda Goodhart. She was an energetic and thoughtful grandmother to her four grandchildren, Jennifer Hammons and the Goodhart grandsons, Brad, Matthew, and Daniel. She was superb with the care of her three great-grandchildren.Dorothy faithfully prayed the rosary every day. She enjoyed attending Mass on weekdays as well as Sundays. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She retired from the VA Medical Center in Little Rock after 23 years of service in the Histology Lab. Retirement was too slow for her, and she embraced a second career babysitting children and infants for many individual families and at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. Everyone knew her as "Meemaw".Dorothy and her husband, Richard, had the neighborhood Christmas house. The lights could be seen for many miles in the North Little Rock area. She constantly baked cookies, candies, divinity, and peanut brittle for the folks who stopped by to admire the spectacular display.She was preceded in death by her parents, Hedwig and Theodore Bruich. Other survivors include two sisters, Albertine Moix and Mildred Arendall, of Conway, and a brother, Ted Bruich, of North Little Rock.Her rosary service will be at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, at 7 PM, Tuesday, June 5th, 2007. Her funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Church, 7000 John F. Kennedy Blvd., at 10 AM, Wednesday, June 6th, 2007, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Reverend James West will be the celebrant.
