Charles R. Murphy, 89, of North Little Rock passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He was born June 16, 1927 in Collingston, Louisiana to Jacob and Annabelle Murphy.
He served in the United States Navy and retired as a Sergeant Major with the United States Army, having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was also a member of the 671 Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Murphy; son, Tyron Knight; and brother, Jacob Murphy. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn McIntosh and Barbara Welton; beloved nephew, I.C. “Spike” Smith, ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Bonnet and Ernestyne Saxon; and other extended family.
Memorials may be made to Grace Church of the Nazarene, 3823 Camp Robinson Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Grace Church of the Nazarene in North Little Rock. Inurnment with full military honors will be held at Noon on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Ave., North Little Rock.

Freda Murphy, 90, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, May 6, 2013.
She was born February 10, 1923 in Faulkner County to the late William and Pauline Parham Hughes.
She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene. She loved her dogs Chein and Tigger and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles R. Murphy, of North Little Rock; daughters, Barbara Welton, of Alexander and Carolyn McIntosh, of Hernando, Mississippi; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Tyron Knight and her sister, Geraldine Karaly.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Grace Church of the Nazarene.
