BENTONVILLE — Judith Clow Garlinger, 67, of Bentonville died Dec. 17, 2010, at Regency Hospital in Fayetteville.

She was first and foremost a patient and caring mother, a supporter of her children, a loving caregiver to her grandchildren and the right hand to her husband, John J. Garlinger, for 49 wonderful years.

She was born March 16, 1943, in Hanford, Calif., to Guy R. Clow and Erma Gutekunst Clow. She grew up in the small farm town of Corcoran, Calif., and loved living close to family. A cousin introduced her to John and a few short months later she married her beloved husband on Nov. 9, 1961. She was the office manager to the family land surveying company in San Diego, Calif., and a member of the genealogical society. She was an avid reader, loved painting, writing, and making porcelain dolls. Her love of knitting for others continued until her health failed.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Erma Clow, and one grandson, John Byers.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, John Garlinger, of the home; three daughters, Heidi Scott of Bentonville, Kathryn Wroten and her husband Michael of Augusta, Maine, and Susan Byers and her husband Robert of San Diego, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Lauryn Garlinger, Grayson Scott, Jared Scott, Rebecca Scott, John Wroten, Joshua Wroten, and Camryn Byers.

Services for Judy will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Callison Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville with a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. the night before, Dec. 21, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bentonville City Cemetery immediately following the services Wednesday.

Arrangements made under the direction of Callison Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.

BENTONVILLE — John Jackson Garlinger Jr., 84, of Bentonville passed away Monday, Oct. 10, in Springfield, Mo., following a traffic accident. He was born April 7, 1932, in Riverside, Calif., to the late John Jackson Garlinger Sr. and Lois Allecia Schooler Garlinger.

In his younger years he attended New Mexico Military Institute on a football scholarship, was the New Mexico Golden Gloves state champion and served his country during the Korean conflict. Following discharge, he returned to school at the University of New Mexico.

John was especially proud of his achievements as a professional land surveyor, having assisted in many housing developments throughout California and building a successful land surveying company in Southern California with the love of his life, Judith Clow Garlinger, who preceded him. Together for over 49 years, they worked side-by-side both in the business and at home.

In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded by his sister, Marjorie Watson; his brother, George Garlinger and his grandson, John Byers.

John's interest in football never wavered from high school to college, as a member of Army's team and watching whoever was on TV today, he loved watching the game. In fact, games of most sorts. He especially loved playing board games and traveling across the country with his family... and often to visit extended family in the motor home while whistling to big bands, Waylon or Willie on the 8-track. Following his retirement as a professional land surveyor, he continued to enjoy football, fellowship with Elks and his Tuesday night poker club.

Survivors include his daughters, Heidi Scott and Suzy Byers (Robert) of Bentonville and Kathryn Wroten (Michael) of Maine; his brother, Earle Garlinger of Bentonville; grandchildren, Lauryn Garlinger, Grayson Scott (Jaime), Jared Scott and Rebecca Scott, Jack Wroten, Josh Wroten and Camryn Byers; numerous nieces, nephews, associates, poker buddies and dear friends.

Services will be held at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville with visitation Friday, Oct. 14, from 4-7 p.m. with Funeral Celebration to follow. Private interment will be at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Online condolences may be expressed at www.CallisonLough.com.
