APPLEGATE, Nancy - No greater shock has ever come to this community than when it became known that little Nancy Applegate, seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Applegate, had died at one o'clock this morning at the Fayetteville Hospital where she was taken about six o'clock yesterday afternoon for a consultation of physicians and surgeons of Bentonville, Fayetteville and Fort Smith, and a possible operation, upon the development of acute auto-intoxication following a few days of serious illness. Nancy, who was one of the sweetest and most likable children of the town, is survived by her parents and her brother, Joe, who was less than two years her senior and her almost constant chum and always her champion. The funeral will be at 10:30 Friday morning at the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. R.S. Hayden, who will be assisted by the Rev. A.W. Henderson of the Presbyterian Church.

With the church chancel a profusion of beautiful flowers, funeral services for little Nancy Applegate, seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Applegate, who died at 1:30 o'clock Thursday morning, August 25, 1932 at the Fayetteville Hospital following a short illness, were held at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning at the Bentonville Methodist Episcopal Church, South, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. R.S. Hayden, assisted by the Rev. A.W. Henderson of the Bentonville Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Bentonville cemetery where Nancy's resting place was marked by a canopy of floral tributes of love and sympathy, among which were none more beautiful than those from Nancy's little playmates who sorely miss her and will always cherish her memory, but no more so than will many of her grown-up neighborhood friends. Besides her parents and her nine-year-old brother, Joe, Nancy is survived by three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Marney of Wheaton, Mo. and J.E. Applegate, pioneer resident and druggist of Rogers, Ark.; by seven uncles: Charles and Harold Applegate of Rogers; Timothy and Fred Applegate of Springdale; Bert and Paul Marney of Rocky Comfort, Mo. and Carl Marney of Anderson, Mo.; by four aunts: Mrs. Tom Nichols of Southwest City, Mo.; Mrs. Lockwood Searcy of Rogers; Mrs. W.A. Davidson of Wheaton, Mo. and Mrs. Claude Duncan of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; and by a number of small cousins. The grandparents and all of Nancy's uncles and aunts were here for the funeral except Mrs. Duncan, as were other relatives and a number of out-of-town friends of the family.
