Kathy Struckle, 64
Kathy Lynn Struckle, age 64, of Mountain Home, died December 11th, 2016 in Grinnell, Iowa, after a short and unexpected illness. She passed peacefully in her son's home, surrounded by her family who had made their way through an Iowa snowstorm to be by her side.
She was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 19th, 1952 to Melba and Winford (Ray) Short, and was raised by her beloved grandparents, Wallace and Norma Covington in Bartonville, Illinois. She attended Limestone High School and had reconnected with many friends from there over the past few years. Kathy married Jerry Struckle on May 3rd, 1974 in Peoria and they relocated to his home state of Arkansas where they have made their home for the past forty years.
Kathy found her greatest joy in making sure everyone knew how proud she was of her children and grandchildren. An avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, she was heartbroken to see the Cubs win the World Series this year.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerry Struckle and their four children Tammy (Fabian) Welch of Bentonville, Sean (Carey) Fletcher of Flippin, Angela (Daniel) Berry of Mountain Home, and Alex (Andrea) Thompson of Grinnell, Iowa. She is also survived by her father, three brothers, two sisters, and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, two sisters, and a brother. Her family feels certain that she is happy to be with them again.
A visitation will be held at Roller Funeral Home on Saturday, December 17th from 10-12, with the funeral immediately to follow at Noon. The service will be conducted by Mr. Jeff Quick. A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Buford after the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy's name to the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
