Bentonville — Charles Abner Stump, 86, of Bella Vista died Saturday in a Bentonville hospital. Born Sept. 4, 1897, at San Saba, Texas, the son of Frances R. and Mary Kennedy Stump, he moved to Muskogee, Okla., at the age of six where he lived until moving to Fayetteville in 1949, where he owned and operated Stumps Furniture Company until retiring and moving to Bella Vista in 1974.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, and Knights Templer in Muskogee, a Rotarian for many years, and one of the founders of First Federal Savings and Loan in Fayetteville, and a member of the Bella Vista Community Church in Bella Vista.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daisy Stump of Bella Vista; a brother, Emanuel K. Stump of Littleton, Col.; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Hamilton of Coeta, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bella Vista Community Church. Entombment will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the mausoleum at Fairview Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Callison-Mckinney Funeral Chapel, Bentonville.

Memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Community Church or to the Bates Memorial Hospital memorial fund.
