Paul Monroe Chisum, 74, of Dover, formerly of Falling Water, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at his home.
He was born July 3, 1942, at Falling Water to George Washington and Dorothy Lavada Freeman Chisum. He married Miss Beatrice Mae Ledford on August 27, 1960, at Russellville and worked for Bibler Lumber Company for more than 31 years as a bulldozer operator. He was a member of the Falling Water Church where he formerly served as a deacon, a musician and song leader. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed anything John Deere. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Carl and Bobby Chisum; three brothers-in-law, Troy Humphrey, Howard and Jack Collins; a sister-in-law, Shirley Hill Chisum; and two great-grandchildren, Rochelle Elsie Dollar and Ephraim David Skowron.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Beatrice M. Chisum of Dover; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Ray and Julie Chisum of Russellville and David Monroe and Vickey Chisum of Solgohatchia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Mae and Donald Dodge of Scottsville and Paulette and Rodney Reynolds of Dardanelle; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Arlie and Mildred Chisum of Scottsville, Jack Chisum of Witts Springs, Wayne and Ruby Chisum of Scottsville and Norman and Rose Chisum of Scottsville; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Christine Humphrey of Witts Springs, Irene Collins of Pelsor, Ilene and George Collins of Russellville and Darlene and Wayne McNutt of Scottsville; two sisters-in-law, Gracie Vive and Donna Chisum, both of Dover; a host of nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Falling Water Church with the Rev. Donnie Chisum and the Rev. Leonard Bob Chisum officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Owens Cemetery near Dover under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brad Dodge, Bruce Chisum, Michael Howard Jr., Andrew Ross, Scott Ross and Matt McKay. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Bryce Ferguson, Jason Cowan Jr., Jasper Jones, Dakota Broyles and Conner Perry; also his granddaughters and great-grandchildren; and members of Falling Water Church.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Hospice or CARTI Cancer Treatment Center.
