Obituary:
Samuel Durham, son of the late B. D. Durham and Goldie Radford Durham Hatfield, was born July 30, 1948 in Melbourne, Arkansas. He departed this life October 28, 2016 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 28 days. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arkansas. He retired from Lancer Corporation in 2004 after twenty-five years of employment. He was an inventor who had hundreds of patents. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Sam is survived by one son: Samuel Derek Durham of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters: Alexa Durham of San Antonio, Texas and Hilaire Durham of Melbourne; three sisters: Martha Peters of Melbourne, Josephine Lemley of Melbourne and Joyce Reynolds of Lamar; seven grandchildren: Cora Shiremann, Shayna Vallery, Kayla Durham, Liam Whitaker, Ella Whitaker, Cordell Durham and Gwen Gilson; one great grandchild: Coleman Shiremann and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Twin Creek Church of Christ with Donald Gillihan officiating. Burial will be at Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be Sunday, October 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers: George Smith, Wendell Glass, Doug Woodcoff, Derek Durham, Mike Vackar and Robert Peters.
