Helen Marie Thompson Gillihan, daughter of the late Burlie Thompson and Myrtle Davis Thompson, was born December 27, 1922 at Lyons Creek, Arkansas. She departed this life February 10, 2017 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 14 days.
She was united in marriage to Rusaw Gillihan January 14, 1939 at Twin Creek, Arkansas and to this union one daughter was born. She spent her life as a loving, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. During her working years she was employed by White River Shirt Company in Melbourne and Baxter Lab in Mountain Home. She was a member of Redbud Extension Homemakers Club. She was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of Melbourne Church of Christ.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Wanda and Freddie Shrable of Violet Hill; one brother: Larry Thompson and wife Diane of Washington; three sisters: Jimmie Gillihan, Delma McCollum and Melba Treat all of Melbourne; one grandson: Steven Shrable and wife Joann of Violet Hill; two great grandchildren: Brittany Shrable and Stephanie Henry and husband Brandon of Guam; three great great grandchildren: Sebastian Briggs, Qhuincey Briggs and Chase Henry and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and three brothers: Eldon Thompson, Burl Thompson and Rayburn Thompson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne.
Burial will be at Combs Cemetery. Pallbearers: Steven Shrable, Jeffery Gillihan, Alan Love, Mike Gillihan, Greg McCollum and Mitch Gillihan.
