FAYETTEVILLE - Maxine Irrisamay Richcreek Taylor, 102 years old, of Fayetteville died peacefully, Feb. 13, 2014, at her home. She was born April 28, 1911, in Oswego, Kan., to T.C. and Bess Richcreek.

She was a lifetime resident of Fayetteville and a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was instrumental, along with her husband, in starting and operating several businesses in Fayetteville during her life including two restaurants and several retail and wholesale tire companies throughout the state. She loved her adopted state of Arkansas. However the never seemed to lose her childhood memories and her love of her home state of Kansas. She often talked of her childhood on her family's rural Kansas farm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Carter Taylor.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael J. Taylor and his wife Pamela Kate of Springdale, Ark., and Dr. K. Stephens Taylor and his wife Doyne of Norwich, Conn., five grandchildren, Kimberly, Jason, Stephanie, Keri, and Michael, and nine great-grandchildren.

Our mother made her grandchildren and great-grandchildren quilts with all of the love of a great grandmother and mailed them to each of the children before her eyesight failed her. But perhaps her greatest gift to her family is the gift of longevity that she will now pass on to her descendants. This small woman in stature was large in integrity and character. Mrs. Taylor's main joy in life and the thing that gave her life purpose was her family. She was blessed with kindness and loyalty and was given the gift to see the humor in life.

She loved her home and especially loved tending her flowers, at which she was gifted. She was further blessed with good friends and neighbors, who saw the goodness in this small woman. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family of our departed mother, wish to express our most sincere thanks to our mother's caregiver, Katheryn Davis. She was always there to help in all kinds of weather and through any and all holidays if needed. Again, Katheryn we thank you for your compassion and kindness to our mother.

Graveside funeral services will be held 12 noon on today, Feb. 17, at Fairview Memorial Gardens with Dr. Steve Pulliam officiating.
