Steven Donald Richards, age 39, of Pearcy, died Monday, December 26, 2011.
He was born on May 26, 1972 at Magnet Cove.
Steven graduated Magnet Cove High School in 1990 and he received a degree as a Registered Nurse in 2008 from National Park Community College where he was on the Dean's list multiple times. He worked as a Registered Nurse/Circulating Nurse since 2008 at Health Park Hospital and St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center operating room.
He was a non-commissioned officer, E-6, U.S. Army veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003-2004 and served in the Army Reserves A Company, 489th Engineer Battalion from 1998-2006 as a combat engineer and track driver. Steven's military honors and awards include the Global War on Terrorism and the Army Accommodation Medal during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 2pm, January 7, 2012 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Gregory E. Guinn officiating.
Interment will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with the U.S. Army and the Thaddeus H. Caraway Post #2278 providing military honors.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Suit, Anthony Cimino, Matthew Edwards, Eric Warrington, Christopher Brown, Marcus Scott Reed, Jeff Wolf, Jeff Howell, and Donna Degrasse.
A special thanks to the A Company, 489th Engineer Battalion, the staff and students of National Park Community College Nursing Department, Holly Warrington, Melissa Varner, Becky White, the staff of St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center and Health Park operating room, Rhonda Mayfield, Amie Bishop, Donna Degrasse, and Steven Suit.
