Susan "Susie" Hayden Birchfield, 58, of Smackover, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Born June 7, 1954, in El Dorado, she was the daughter of Kenneth Mack Hayden Sr. and Selma Jones Hayden. She had worked in the office at Smackover Family Practice and was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She truly loved her kids, enjoyed fishing very much, and loved playing Bunko. Christmas with her family was very special also; she started getting ready for it in January. She was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her husband, Danny; a son, Steven and his wife, Kelly Birchfield, of Camden; a daughter, Beth Hayden Birchfield of Smackover; one brother, Mack Hayden and his wife, Laura, of Russellville; three sisters, Jeanne Hayden of Dallas, Janie Jones and her husband, David, of North Little Rock, and Nancy Hayden of Lawton, OK; a sister-in-law, Rita Ferguson of Smackover; and a brother-in-law, Ricky Birchfield and his wife, Kym. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at First Baptist Church of Smackover, with the Revs. Robert McDaniel and David Preston officiating. Interment will follow in Smackover under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Aug. 14) at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 10403, El Dorado, AR 71731.
