I met Curtis thru some friends of mine with whom he lived with. He was fairly a quiet natured man & quite dignified in his own respect. My the stories he could tell of the war! He came from a very wealthy & prominent family in Chicago was mistaken a lot for Mickey Rooney. His mother's family was in the movie industry in Hollywood & she landed him a job as a photographer. He could show you many original photos of movie stars & most he had autographed. When the war broke out, off he went, on the front line, shooting hundreds of photos & short clips. It was his pictures & short clips that you would see when you went to the movies & they would show the little war clip & advertise in supporting the troops & the war before the main feature. Up until & even after his death, every month he would receive his royalty checks from his photos & movie clips as many are still used today in the war movies. He had a way with the ladies which resulted in his family splitting up although his first wife came to visit him after so many years, in fact they took a trip together, one he talked about a lot. He often said how he wished he could make amends with his children & family, that too many years lost. So, everytime you watch a war film/movie, remember who was brave enough to get out there on the front of the battle field to take the footage so that we citizens here in the states could be informed. May he rest in peace :)
