John M. Murrah, 69, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 27 days. He was born in Glendale Arizona to Claude Murrah and Dorothy (Huggins) Burgin on Wednesday, July 14, 1943. John was a man who knew the meaning of a hard day's work and chose to earn his living as a general laborer in the field of Agriculture. He enjoyed a good game of pool, working on his cars and watching football. John was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his family. Mr. Murrah was survived by his wife, Ollie of the home; sons, Johnny Ray Murrah of Durant, Oklahoma, Bobby Murrah of Grady, Arkansas and John Franklin Murrah; daughter, Sheila Farmer and husband Steven of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, Dale Murrah of Lodi, California; sister, Patricia Holden of Lodi, California; grandchildren, Kayla Lewis of Salem, Oregon, John Murrah Jr. of Modesto, California, Nichole and Tori Humphres of Durant, Oklahoma, Brittany and Sarah Farmer of Durant, Oklahoma and Heather and Bobby Murrah Jr. of Modesto, California; great-granchildren, Jayden and Nevaeh Tuom of Salem, Oregon, Victoria Murrah of Modesto, California, Maci and Maizen Owen of Durant, Oklahoma and Maddox Humphres of Durant, Oklahoma. Mr. Murrah was preceded in death by his father, Claude Murrah; mother and step-father, Dorothy and Burt Burgin; sister, Jean Murrah; brother, Charles Murrah. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hess Cemetery in Coal Hill, Arkansas, with Olen Odgen officiating. Services were under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma.
