Sue Jenkins of Camden (formerly of Hamburg) passed away peacefully on January 21, 2009 at the age of 90. She was born December 27, 1918 in Boydell, AR to Clint and Effie Harrison Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, and two infant children. Also preceding her in death was her late husband and best friend, D. B. Jenkins, her sons-in-law Ed Smith and Arthur Cope, and an infant grandson, Jesse. Her beloved dog, Rudy, also preceded her.
Sue leaves behind four daughters, Carolyn Smith of Sherwood, AR, Judith Jackson and her husband, James of Camden, AR, Connie Griffis and her husband, Rick of Camden, AR, Debra Benson and her husband, Michael, of Camden, AR; one son, Jerry “Buddy” Norrell and his wife, Kay of Camden, AR; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Sue spent the last couple of years at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab Center and considered several of the employees and residents to be part of her extended family. She frequently enjoyed the opportunity to feel that she was able to take
care of some of the residents who were not able to get around as well as she could.
Among the fond memories that her family will cherish will be Sue’s spunkiness and sometimes cantankerous moments, her fondness of animals, and love of fried green tomatoes.
Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, 1:00 at the Hamburg Cemetery. To sign the online guest register, visit www.proctorfuneralhome.com.
