Leland (Bud) Swearingen, 69, of Springdale died Aug. 8 at Springdale Memorial Hospital. He was born July 13, 1919, in Laurens, Iowa, the son of Charles A. And Ida Belle Anderson Swearingen. He was a retired mechanic, a shop supervisor for Cannon Press Co., a U.S. Navy veteran and a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Point Swearingen of the home; three sons, Charles (Corky) Swearingen of Olathe, Kan., Gary L. Swearingen of Springdale and Jim Swearingen of Rogers; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmy (Pam) Bersi of Springdale; one sister, Kathryn Seward of Columbus, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Chapel of Springdale.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Chapter of Arthritis Foundation, 6213 Lee Ave., Little Rock 72205.

SPRINGDALE — Lois Lorraine Swearingen, age 89, of Springdale, died May 7, 2012, in Springdale. She was born July 8, 1922, in Rolfe, Iowa, the daughter of William and Bertha Morrison Point.
She was a retired sales clerk and enjoyed dancing in her younger years. She was preceded by her husband, Leland "Bud" Swearingen in 1988.
Ms. Swearingen is survived by three sons, Charles "Corky" Swearingen of Springdale, Gary Swearingen and his wife, Georgia, of Fayetteville, and Jim Swearingen and his wife, Janice, of Springdale; one daughter, Pam Castillow and her husband, Roy, of Springdale; one sister, Florence Stejskal of Grand Meadows, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel Dickard officiating under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Bersi, Brian Bersi, Chad Swearingen, Gregg Swearingen and Scott Norwood.
